trans4num: Transformation for sustainable nutrient supply and management

The trans4num project aspires to ground and widely promote innovations in nature-based solutions for sustainable agriculture in Europe and China.
HCC role in trans4num

HCC leads Work Package 5: Scaling up and out: Communication and Dissemination driving all activities related to project impact. Our responsibilities include designing and delivering the Communication, Dissemination, and Exploitation (DEC) Plan, creating and maintaining the project website and social media channels, and developing a wide range of tailored communication products. By managing these key activities, HCC ensures that trans4num’s results are effectively shared, widely visible, and accessible to diverse audiences, from farmers and advisors to policymakers and researchers.

HCC Key contributions:

  • Communication and facilitation

HCC is responsible for both the design and implementation of the DEC Plan in trans4num, ensuring that communication, dissemination, and exploitation activities deliver maximum visibility and impact. The Plan sets the framework for raising awareness, engaging stakeholders, and promoting project results across Europe, while also providing tools for monitoring and evaluation. Demonstrating our adaptability and strategic focus, we recently updated the DEC Plan in response to recommendations from the project review, aligning activities even more closely with project objectives and stakeholder expectations. Through this ongoing leadership, HCC guarantees that trans4num’s results are not only communicated effectively but also translated into long-term value and uptake.

  • Dissemination

While project partners focus on their empirical work, HCC drives the dissemination strategy that ensures trans4num’s results reach wide and diverse audiences. We have curated and maintained the project website, keep the LinkedIn page active and engaging, and contribute regularly to EU-FarmBook. We also established a dedicated Zenodo community and produce the project newsletters, making sure outputs, updates, and stories are accessible, visible, and reusable across the European research and innovation landscape.

  • trans4num Practice Abstracts

Understanding the multi-actor requirements of trans4num, HCC led the process of collecting practice abstracts from project partners. Following the writing phase, we dedicated time and attention to compile all practical solutions into a consolidated project deliverable, ensuring consistency and quality. To maximise visibility and accessibility, HCC also uploaded all abstracts to the EU CAP Network database, making trans4num’s results available to farmers, advisors, and stakeholders across Europe.

trans4num Project summary

trans4num is a four-year Horizon Europe project (2022–2026) that aims to advance nature-based solutions (NBS) in agricultural nutrient management across Europe and China.

The project seeks to: deepen understanding of the potentials and trade-offs of NBS in different contexts, explore the complexities of applying these solutions in real farming systems, build a dynamic decision support tool for regional nutrient management, and assess the integrated impacts of technological, social, and policy innovations.
